Odin Halvorson on Medium wrote about the creation of a “12.5 million-block” building designed to “safeguarding the right to freedom of information.” This was the project of Reporters Without Borders.
Mr. Halvorson goes into how many hours and builders it took to construct the neoclassical design, along with the articles that included in the building. Which features five journalists who’ve been banned in their home country, including their life story, and excerpts of their materials.
How much more material over time will be added to the site is unknown. But we expect more will be added, assuming the owners maintain the project.
The only issue some may have are problems of what will be included in this digital library. For example, we at the E-JSD doubt you will see books typically being banned in the United States libraries. But it’s possible as publishers who’ve had their books banned may work with Reporters Without Borders and Mojang Studios to include their works to expand their reach.
We at the E-JSD see this as a unique use of both gaming and digital information and suspect this kind of trend will continue to capture new readers. We could see the return of cheats that were originally published in printed gaming magazines, but it would be part of an e-book with embedded links to the game based off the book. This could be especially true for digital graphic novels turned into video games or part of a gaming franchises.
